73 Questions with Sarah Jessica Parker

Good Morning NYC Fit Food Fashion Readers! This video is one of my favorite things that came out this week. As you know I am a huge SJP fan and after meeting her a couple of weeks ago, I am a bigger fan than ever. The greatest things about this video is you can see how real and human this fashion goddess actually is. Also surprising how much random things you can learn about Sarah Jessica Parker in 5 minutes. A great plus in this video is that you get a glimpse into her New York City Brownstone. I don’t know about you I was shocked by how homey it seemed. I think I was expecting something more extravagant from the home of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. It seemed warm and welcoming just like the lady herself. Check out the video and try not to love her as much as I do!

Cocktail Dresses on Pinterest

Happy Friday Fashion Lovers! Just like most women I am always looking for a great cocktail dress. This week on my Pinterest fashion post I will be looking at the variety of cocktail dresses that are styled on Pinterest. The thing I love about fashion on Pinterest is that you can find more than just an item but great photos of how to style and accessorize those pieces. With spring on its way (thank god!) we can all look forward to putting on some dresses and hopefully hitting some spring parties. While I was searching Pinterest this week I put together some of my favorite cocktail dresses that you may enjoy. Here is a look at some of the ones I pinned:

Workout Wednesday-Back, Biceps, and Glutes with Active Wear by Athleta

Good Morning Workout Lovers! It is Wednesday again and it is time for Workout Wednesday. I am in week 37 of pregnancy so my workout will still be a little tame. I will interested to see how these work outs will change once I have the baby and can get back into actual training. I can’t wait! Today I will be doing a short back, biceps and glutes workout. I will also be finishing it off with an incline walk on the treadmill. Here is a look at what I have planned for my workout today:

  • 3 sets of 15 reps
  • single arm dumbbell rows
  • deadlifts
  • standing bicep curls
  • hammer curls
  • plie squats
  • leg press
  • 30 min incline treadmill walk

With spring weather coming soon I have been obsessing over the awesome colors that Athleta has to offer in active wear this spring. If you have not had a chance to take a look you should head over to Athleta and check out what they have to offer. As a new Athleta shopper I just as pleased with the quality of the active wear as I am with the fashionable looks that they put out this season. I was even able to find some great pieces that I have been enjoying during my pregnancy. I do have a gift card that I am looking forward to using after this baby makes it appearance in a couple of weeks! I wanted to share with you some of my favorite Athleta looks that are available right now:

Fast Track Half Zip AthletaThis is the Fast Track Half Zip, this awesome piece comes in 5 colors. It is a great layering base that is completely breathable. An option for all the unpredictable weather we have been having!

Bay Beach Capri From AthletaThe Bay Beach Capri comes in 3 colors, my favorite is this heather grey. This is a great item for the gym, walking on the beach or just lounging around. I love wearing ankle length capris in the spring weather.

Pacifica UPF Tank From AthletaThe Pacifica UPF Tank is available in 7 vibrant colors. This is a great under layer for runners or any other activity you want to do in this tank. I am tempted to add a couple of these tanks to my active wear collection.

Samsula High Top Shoes by Off The Beaten Track®I have been seeing high tops all over the place this year. These are the Samsula High Top Shoes by Off the Beaten Track. The high tops feature a hidden wedge in the base of the shoe to give a little lift to those of us that may need one. Another great feature is that they are leather with an edgy snake-skin like texture to them. definitely not your regular pair of high tops!

I hope I have given you some motivation to go workout today and also to go and check out Athleta and up your active wear wardrobe! I know I am so excited to buy some of these pieces, maybe I will get this whole outfit! What type of workout will you be doing today on Workout Wednesday? What is your favorite active wear brand?

Tuesday Shoesday: Wedding Shoes

Hello Shoe Lovers! Spring is coming upon us and many ladies out there is planning a wedding right now. I know when I got married and was in the planning stages my wedding shoes were very important to me. Do you want to be comfortable through out the day or do you choose fashion? I know that I went with fashion and ended up holding my Badgely Mischka shoes but I loved them. Here is a look at my shoes, I want to share them with you and of course any excuse to go through my wedding pictures!

032For this week’s Tuesday Shoesday I thought we could take a look at some gorgeous shoes that I think would be a great choice for any of you brides out there. I know there are a lot of things to consider in picking out wedding shoes. Where is your wedding? Do you want a colored shoe or do you want to stick with white? How high of a heel do you think you can handle all day? Can you dance in them?

Wedding Shoes- SJP Shoes

I love the SJP Collection Etta Style. The pink reminds me of my wedding shoes but they have a closed toe. I have tried them on and they are wearable and I think I could wear them for many hours without complaint. How gorgeous are these SJP Shoes??

Kate Spade Clarice Wedding ShoesIf you want to stick to a neutral color what about these satin Kate Spade Clarice Pumps? This what I think of when I picture a traditional wedding shoe. I love the detail at the toe and the heel height does not seem to high for dancing and the leather soles will keep you from slipping on the dance floor!

Wedding Shoes- Something Blue by CheersIf you are looking for a flat shoe, how fabulous are these wedding ballet flats by Cheers? It is also a perfect choice if you are looking for something blue to check off your list.

Manolo Blahnik Swan Wedding ShoesI could not do a wedding shoe post without showing off some Manolo Blahnik wedding shoes. These are the Manolo Blahnik Swan White Satin Pumps. This shoe is also famous for being featured in Twilight Breaking Dawn. I just love the intricate crystal embellishment on the toe!

Jimmy Choo Sandals

If you are getting married on a beach, what about choosing some flat sandals for your wedding shoes? You can still get something gorgeous and still splurge worthy. These are the Jimmy Choo Nox Flat Crystal Thongs. The thongs are embellished and also feature leather soles. With these wedding shoes you will also be able to wear them over and over again. I love these sandals because of their versatility, who doesn’t need a dressy flat sandal for vacations etc.

Badgley Mischka Wedding Shoes

I had to of course add my own wedding shoes. This is a Badgley Mischka classic wedding shoe. The Randall by Badgley Mischka comes in vanilla, sky blue and a blush pink. When I had bought my wedding shoes I bought them in a rose color. I could not find that color online right now. I loved these shoes but they are a little high. I made it through the ceremony but did not get to dance in them! I do not regret my choice, I loved these shoes!

What shoes did you choose as your wedding shoes? Which ones are your favorite?

Free People “March Catalog”

It is time for the Free People catalog again. I love when I get mine in the mail, even with all this technology I still love to hold the catalog in my hand and look at all the fabulous looks that Free People have put together. This month there is a few things going on with Free People:

March Catalog – Free People’s March catalog stars a model who defines effortless cool, Erin Wasson. The collection sheds its winter layers and embraces a bare look for spring. The collection features an eclectic mix of pieces from ‘barely there’ tops layered with strappy bras, to bold South American-inspired denim, and breezy maxis. Accessories focus on long drapey chains and statement arm cuffs to complete the look. Shop the Catalog here.

Short Film ‘The Ride’ – The catalog follows Erin and her (fictional) beau as they took a (real-life) road trip through the vast Midwestern desert on a classic Harley Davidson. The pair made stops at motels and diners, all the while being captured for the campaign along the way. When the adventurous duo reached their destination ? the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas ? Erin posed as a blushing bride saying her ‘I do’s’ to her denim-clad groom. Watch the Short Film here.

‘Open Call’ Talent Scout Competition – Free People, is teaming up with Jed Root, a global leader in artist management, and IMG Models, a top international model management agency, to launch ‘Open Call,’ a hunt to find creative talent from across the country. Together, they will scout individuals who are passionate about styling, modeling, and photography to produce and appear in Free People’s upcoming e-Catalog launching in June. Each winner will have a once in a lifetime chance to work alongside famed model, Erin Wasson, and a talented team of creative professionals. See Website for the details.

March Madness

Hey guys! I had promised myself at New Year’s that I would start every month off with a note to you guys. Well when did March start? I feel like January was the slowest month I have ever experienced and February was over in the blink of an eye. Maybe it is because February is so short or that I am a few weeks away from the birth of my first little one. This is something I am extremely excited yet very nervous for! I think the best part will be finally finding out what we are having. Will this be a handsome little guy or a beautiful little gal? My odds are on a boy but as we all know intuition is not always correct!

If you have been following nycfitfoodfashion.com you may have noticed that I have been featuring a lot more guest features since New Years and this will continue. I think that it brings a little more to the page and not just one voice. I hope you agree! I will also be taking a break when the baby comes. Do not worry there will still be posts, I have a team of guest bloggers that will be posting work during the week of 2 that I will not be able to. I am hoping to have a great balance of fitness, food, recipes and fashion tips from some fantastic bloggers. I am still accepting submissions, if you are interested please send me an email at nycfitfoodfashion@gmail.com. I love to support other bloggers out there.

Lately I have been posting a lot of fashion posts. I go with what ever inspires me, right now that seems to be fashion. I will be working on getting back to a regular balance of all the things you love in fitness, food and fashion. There has been so many great things going on in fashion lately. How about those SJP Shoes?? I can not stop thinking about them!

As per usual I really love hearing from you guys and I am looking for feedback. What would you like to see from NYC Fit Food Fashion this month? Is there anything that pops out at you that you have been looking for us to cover? Please feel free to reach out and let’s talk!

As for what I do have planned for this month. Here are some topics:

  • spring fashions
  • perfect sandals
  • should you detox?
  • Clean Eating Recipes
  • baby style
  • and many many more!

This month is going to be a crazy one for me. With this being my first child I would love to here from any of you that have some advice. Especially for how things are going to go after we get home! I am really blessed that Jon will be home for the first month with me but other than that I am on my own here. Any tips would be greatly appreciated by this first time Mamma. I will be heading to the Dr today to see if the little one has decided to turn down. Have a great day everyone!

Spring Dresses with Review

Hey guys! We are so close to spring I can almost feel it. I know it is still cold out but a girl can dream right. It is time to start putting together our spring wardrobe. I know I am not the only one that needs some new spring dresses to add into the mix of spring looks that I already own. Recently I have been introduced to the beautiful dresses from the awesome people over at Review. I could not believe how many styles of Review Evening Dresses that were available.

Review dresses

Review is designed in Australia and take inspiration from many different locals including London, New York and Paris. A lot of the dress styles have a romantic vintage feel to them that I love. Review has been around for 25 years and I am just finding them now?? Their site is definitely a place to check out some gorgeous dresses. They also have an amazing selection of special occasion and bridesmaid dresses. If you are looking for bridesmaids dresses with a romantic feel this site has all that and more. Here are a couple of style I have fallen in love with.

As you can see just from my choices that Review has a spectacular selection of dresses. There are so many different styles, textures and colors of review evening dresses to choose from. I really love the yellow dress above and it would go perfect with my new Jade colored heels that I bought last week! The only problem that you may face is picking out just one. When looking at all of the dresses I found that there were so many occasions that I would be able to wear these dresses this spring. I can picture the floral ones dressed up or down, if you wanted to go casual what about pairing one of these dresses with a leather flat sandal and a tote bag. Review also has a great selection of accessories to choose from as well. I found this fantastic bag that would go perfectly with any of the dresses that you may find during your online shopping.

Accessories

When it comes to online shopping I am a whiz at it. I know I have expressed this many times on my blog but I prefer shopping online to going into the stores here in NYC. No lines, no hassles and I know the merchandise is going to be up to par. I also enjoy sitting here in my pjs drinking my coffee and going through all the spring dresses without ever leaving the comfort of my living room. So what are you waiting for? It is time to up your spring dress game! I shared with you my favorites, what are yours?

Flowy, Flirty Fashions: Timeless Tunics for Any Body Type

For a truly versatile fashion item, the timeless tunic is one piece that should be in every woman’s wardrobe. Worn on its own as a dress or over trousers or leggings as a long top, a stylish tunic can be worn by women of any size, shape and age. If you’re not sure how best to wear a tunic to flatter your figure, then read on for all the hints and tips you need.

 Tunic1

Pear Shape
If your figure is the classic English pear shape you’ll want to avoid drawing attention to your hips, and flatter your best bits. You’ll want to go for a tunic that’s cut in a way that will cover your lower body well, without clinging to the hips and thighs. A tunic with side vents that falls below the thighs is perfect for pear shapes, and a wide or embellished neckline will draw the attention to your upper body.

Fullfigured
Curvy girls often make the mistake of choosing loose, shapeless clothing to try to disguise their figures, when they should be showing off their curves! On the other hand, you don’t want anything too tight that will cling to any lumps and bumps. Getting the right balance can be difficult, but sites such as navabi.co.uk offer a wide range of styles for plus size women.

tunics-manon-baptiste-polka-dot-chiffon-tunic-kiwi-green-black_A12822_F5324

 Apple Shape
If you’re an apple shape, which means that you’re wider in the midsection, then the perfect tunic for you will draw attention to your legs and your upper body. A Vshaped neckline and a short necklace will both draw the eye up to your face, and if you want to wear your tunic over trousers, go for skinny jeans to enhance your legs.

Hourglass Figure
An hourglass figure will be swamped in a loose tunic, and of course you won’t be able to show off your curves, so a fitted tunic is the perfect choice for you. If you have a large bust, you need to be extra careful how you style your tunic to avoid looking matronly, so either go for an empireline waist or wear it with a coordinating belt to really cinch it in.

tunics-mat-chiffon-tunic-in-kaftan-look-black-light-grey_A18282_F2431

 Petite
If you’re petite, you need to make sure you don’t go for a tunic that’s too long, as if it doesn’t fall in the right position it can make you look short. A style that’s shorter will look great on you, especially if you’re proud of your legs as you can wear it on its own as a dress. Heels are an essential accessory for petite women, and you can wear killer heels to dress up your tunic, or cute wedges for a dresseddown summer look.
Once you’ve found your dream tunic, you can play around with styles and accessories to find the
perfect look for your body type. In fact, a tunic is even a stylish choice when you’re pregnant, a la Gwen Stefani!
